This was one in a series of “historic” birds nests removed from a school building. The birds nests could easily be well over 50 years old.

Heavy Build Ups
Some Chimneys need a little more cleaning than others.
On this occasion I discovered a stage 2 creosote build up. Luckily the customer had booked me before it progressed further.
Due to the severity a second visit was required but the debris was cleared and a treatment issued.
Disconnected Flue
A sweep of a gas fire didn’t seem right.
A camera inspection revealed a disconnected flue in the loft space!

Some cowls that seem ok are in-fact caps. These should not be installed on flues that are in use! Here I am removing one.

Chimney Fire In Twin Wall
I attended a house for a regular Chimney sweep before Christmas and discovered they had had a chimney fire, the flue system was badly damaged.
I issued a warning notice not to use the their stove but I did leave them with the contact details of an installer who could replace their flue.
The work was completed and they had their fire working again before Christmas.
